Facial nerve symposium

I was extremely grateful to attend the International Facial Nerve Symposium in Madrid.

The conference is held every four years, bringing together world leaders in facial palsy management to share research and collaborate with colleagues.

There were four full days of high quality of scientific content sharing up to date techniques and outcomes.

The collaboration between surgical specialties (surgeons) and allied health (facial therapists) at the conference reinforced how important this is to successful outcomes for patients.

It was fantastic to catch up with my colleagues from overseas who mentored and inspired me to extend the treatment of facial palsy in New Zealand.

I had the privilege to meet with experts who have treated mutual patients and who have provided support to me from a distance while we advance the New Zealand facial palsy and corneal neurotization (neurotisation) services.
